The Vaccine Equity Cooperative is committed to supporting national, local and institutional policies designed to: Increase investment and improve funding systems and processes for community-based organizations – to ensure grants and other support reaches and is designed around the needs of hyper-local organizations so critical to health. Ensuring community-based investments for vaccine equity moving forward. Strengthen and sustain community-based workforces – to create an infrastructure to support health navigators, promotores, community health workers and others that make up this under-valued workforce that’s trusted most by local communities. The Health Force, Resilience Force, and Force to fight COVID-19 Act, COVID Community Care Act, and other key legislation that led directly to the inclusion of $7.66 B towards a public health workforce in the American Rescue Plan. Legislation and state policy that increases the ability for Medicaid to reimburse for community-based workforce activities. Focused investments at the state level to ensure local health departments have the resources needed to stand up programs in partnership with local community-based organizations. Build better connected, more transparent public health data infrastructure – to better understand and enable both national and local organizations to identify barriers relative to prioritize health efforts by race, age, geography, access and other equity considerations, and prioritize health equity in all policies.
