Community Types: Youth/Schools
Thursday, November 18th, 2-3 pm ET
First Focus on Children invites you to join a Congressional briefing: “Equity for Children and the COVID-19 Vaccine” sponsored by Senator Sherrod Brown and Representative Kim Schrier.
As vaccine eligibility is extended to younger children, there are challenges unique to this population, including distribution methods and locations for reaching kids equitably, caregivers with low vaccine confidence, the misperception that COVID-19 does not impact kids, and the politicization of vaccines and public health. We must provide equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine for children and ensure that caregivers are reached in ways that are compelling and authentic to them.
Bruce Lesley, President of First Focus on Children will moderate the event and our expert panel will include:
– Rhea Boyd, MD, MPH | Pediatrician and Child and Public Health Advocate, Co-developer of THE CONVERSATION: Between Us, About Us
– Jessica Calarco, PhD | Department of Sociology, Indiana University
– Michelle Fiscus, MD | FAAP Pediatrician, Public Health Consultant, National Academy for State Health Policy
